Tom Ford Eye Color Quad 01 Enchanted Review, Swatch, EOTD

Tom Ford Eye Color Quads have become a staple to my daily makeup routine! they're pigmented, easily blendable and the glitters are absolutely gorgeous! I'm so excited that new colors are available with the 2012 AW collection. I got the very purrty purple-beige quad, 01 Enchanted. (I don't know why they're numbering it 01 since Golden Mink is already 01, don't they mean 11? XD)

The new palette is now only 6 grams instead of 10?! I don't think this is a typo since the Emerald Lust palette also says 6 grams on the back. This is a big change, I will inquire about it next time at the Tom Ford counter.

 Under indoor lighting. There is a pinkish white for highlighting or as an all-over lid color, a light beige-pink that contains fine silver glitter (much finer than the glitter found in previous palettes), a silvery purple-ish brown, and a dark wine brown.

 With flash. The upper right glittery beige-pink is a completely new texture for TF eyeshadows. The silvery glitter particles are much smaller than those found in last year's palettes. Compare it to the glittery shades of Golden Mink below. Note also that the metal pans in the original quads are gone, new quads have the eyeshadows molded outside the palette (TF logo on the eyeshadows is also new) and then glued directly into the wells of the palette.

  Here is a picture of Golden Mink, also taken with flash. The two glittery shades are of a completely different texture from the glittery shade found in Enchanted. Personally, I prefer the glittery texture of Golden Mink. I suppose people who don't like glitter as much will find the new smaller, finer glitter particles more appealing.

 01 Enchanted swatched on my arm. As you can see, it's a very light-colored combination, with 2 highlight shades, 1 medium lid color and 1 dark crease/liner shade, making it very appropriate for work or school. The two highlight shades are duochromes, you can see that they shine slightly pink in the picture taken with flash.

 Here are some similar shades in my stash. I find that the two light duochromes are harder to dupe than the two darker shades.
-Nars Himalayas is also a duochrome that shows up pink when the light hits on it but it's not as white or as reflective as Enchanted.
-theBalm Safe Bet Annette is a pale pink but not a duochrome.
-Sephora Hot Hues Baked Mulberry is a flat pink.
-Laura Mercier Baked in Pink Petal is a duochrome but much pinker than Enchanted.
-theBalm Just This Once Jamie is very similar to Enchanted but has less brown, more purple and gray.
-Too Faced Ever After is much lighter than Enchanted.
-Urban Decay Hustle is very similar to Enchanted but not as dark.

On the eyes, the colors are even more subdued than Golden Mink, which can be a good thing or bad, depending on what kind of look you're looking for. Overall, I'm satisfied with the pigmentation, blendability and lasting power. The shades are not too exciting but they're appropriate for even the most conservative environments. If you're looking for a palette for everyday use, Tom Ford Enchanted is a great choice!

As for the change in the palette design, I don't care much for the newly added logos, metal pans without logos are just fine. I am a little dissappointed by the change in the glittery eyeshadows' texture. What made the original eye quads so unique were the special grown-up glitters! Such excellent glitter eyeshadows are so hard to come by, especially in high-end lines, I hope they will bring back those gorgeous glitters in future palette releases!

Colors are applied in the order labeled.  This is a very light palette and the resulting look reflects that.

The glittery upper right shade was applied to the center of the lid. It is much subdued comparing to the glitteriness of previous Tom Ford palettes, making it more suitable for work related occasions.

 Overall, I like this palette very much, the colors are pigmented, very easy to blend, does not crease or fade for many hours on top of UDPP, and the shades work very well together.
