I've always
been into heavy perfumes of the floral oriental kind. Tom Ford has many
perfumes in this category. I picked up two from his Signature
Collection line, Black Orchid and Violet Blonde.
All the Signature Collection perfume bottles have vertical lines and metallic name placards.
Let's talk about Black Orchid first. One can tell from the black packaging that this is not a bright sunny orchid, but a dark mysterious orchid.
I always favor spray bottles for convenience and sanitary reasons.

Black
is a warm comforting scent great for cold weather. Besides orchids, one
can also smell black chocolate, patchouli, vanilla and incense. The
silage and longevity are both great, lasting for at least a whole day,
highly recommended for floral oriental lovers!
Next up is Violet Blonde. This one came out in late 2011. This is mainly a woody floral, a little lighter than Black Orchid but still pretty heavy.

The golden hardware gives it a luxurious look but the foggy glass tones it down a bit without going overboard.
The impression Violet Blonds leaves me with is a mature, confident woman with a high sense for fashion. The silage and longevity of this perfume, however, is slightly lacking, usually fades by nighttime and hardly discernible the next day. One thing I like about it is that it doesn't smell like a million other perfumes out there, it will standout in a crowd and in an elegant way.
I just tried samples of Jasmin Rouge and Champaca Absolute--big mistake!! Now I'm in love but can't justify spending almost $200 on a fragrance...especially when there's so much beautiful makeup to be had :P I just read your reviews on the blushes though--definitely picking up either Love Lust or Frantic Pink this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI understand, I fell for Jasmin Rouge too, it's such a gorgeous oriental floral! The blushes are the best things among all the TF makeup, they are so pigmented and long-lasting, definitely top of the line quality!
